Job Description: 
The Tomah VA Medical Center is seeking five registered nurses for their Mental Health unit. This Registered Nurse provides outpatient and inpatient psychiatric services to eligible veterans. The nurse will provide, direct and supervise the delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran population. The Nurse is accountable for adhering to established policies, standards of care and standards of practice, demonstrating leadership in services as a role model when assigned under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee.

The role of this nurse is as a RN staff nurse addressing the medical and psychosocial needs of the veterans, providing outpatient services as needed assisting in the coordination of services across the continuum of care and providing inpatient services assisting with admitting and discharging procedures, delivery of medications, conducting group meetings, etc. Duties will include off shift tour and weekend duty. Demonstrates sound judgment and possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting. Works and communicates effectively with all internal and external customers. Initiates and leads groups of patients and/or other personnel to achieve goals. Provides nursing care for adults reflective of an understanding of age specific needs or development stage.

Education, training, experience: 
RN is a graduate of school of professional nursing approved by State accrediting agency at the time the program was competed by the applicant and has met licensure requirements for practice in accordance with VA Directive 5102.1

Bachelors in Nursing and Mental Health Experience preferred.

You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.

After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
