JOB SUMMARY:
The Office of Nursing Service at the Tomah VA Medical Center is seeking to hire 4 Master's Prepared Registered Nurses in the clinical nurse leader/clinical nurse specialist role. Practice settings will include Acute/Ambulatory Care, Geriatrics, Rehabilitation, and Geropsych. The CNL/CNS will be directly responsible to the Associate Chief Nurse in the assigned area of expertise. He/She will function as part of an inter-professional team; collaborating closely with the Nurse Manager and Charge Nurse in provision of expert level nursing at the unit level. This clinician is a leader in directing and providing cost effective care in the implementation of health promotion and prevention practices, managing acute and chronic illnesses putting evidence based practice into action to ensure the veteran population benefits from the latest innovations in care delivery.

Duties:

The Clinical Nurse Leader oversees the integration of care for veteran patients in her assigned area of specialty, i.e. Acute/Ambulatory Care, Geriatrics, Rehabilitation, and Geropsych. This clinician functions as part of an inter professional team, providing cost effective care striving to elevate the clinical expertise and practice of the nursing staff, optimizing patient outcomes at the individual and unit level.

the Registered Nurse is a graduate from a program accredited by the National League Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and has met licensure requirements for practice in accordance with VA Handbook 5005/27, Part II, and Appendix G6, dated March 17, 2009.

A Masters Degree in Nursing with certification as Clinical Nurse Leader or a Masters Prepared Clinical Nurse Specialist with the expectation of meeting CNL certification within negotiated time period. Must possess the knowledge and skills that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. Minimum of 3 years experience of nursing professional practice in your specialized area.
