Job Description: 
Kwik Trip, Inc. is seeking a professional iSeries Systems Administrator at our Corporate Office located in La Crosse, WI. This individual will: perform software installations, maintenance and upgrades; administer system security and providing client support; maintain, support and troubleshoot server issues in partnership with Application developers; HA, DR Design and Architecture. In addition, this person would act as a technical lead and develop deployment plans and documentation as well as assist in evaluating and recommending technology upgrades.

• Install and configure hardware, operating system of iSeries and 3rd party software
• Plan, schedule and perform proactive maintenance including iSeries OS operating system and 3rd party software upgrades and PTF installation
• Engage in proactive capacity planning from a CPU, memory and disk viewpoint as well as planning future expansion requirements
• Perform preventative maintenance of iSeries, that includes server tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing performance
• Perform system backups and maintain a backup recoverability plan for recovery of production system
• Create and execute CL programs for various backup, monitoring and job scheduling activities
• Monitor and operation of iSeries and associated peripherals
• Provide support for production, staging, Q/A and development environments
• Manage job scheduling including maintenance and operations
• Recommend technical solutions, architecture design and implementation timeline in support of business application requirements
• Act as a technical lead to ensure projects and activities are delivered on time and serve as an escalation point for iSeries issues within IT
• Develops documentation and deployment plans in support of the production environment
• Communicate plans, status and issues to management on a regular basis
• Interface with vendors on a regular basis to resolve technical issues and evaluate technology advancements
• Work closely with vendors in managing High availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Provide support for iTera HA solution including monitoring, troubleshooting, optimizing performance; along with associated documentation required to maintain a high availability platform
• Participate in high availability role swaps and support disaster recovery tests
• Participate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for design reviews, technology and tool selection
• Review business solutions, design, test and implementation plans and ensures adherence to standards and best practices

Education, training, experience: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience. Candidate must also have a minimum of 5 years experience in: iSeries/AS400 administration, Security, TCP/IP, LPAR’s, performance monitoring, High Availability solution (preferably iTera), and BRMS; strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to write and present effective materials (including presentations, status reporting and technical diagrams); strong organizations skills and ability to manage a diversified workload; demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, clients and other IT personnel; ability to resolve issues using techniques such as root cause analysis; experience in a fast-paced dynamic IT environment with rapidly changing needs and requirements. Experience/knowledge of V6R1, Rational, RPG programming, AIX and Java is a plus.

Work Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday daytime hours and on-call responsibility. Please note this position will require occasional night and weekend work as well.
